Accidents as relational outcomes

Accidents as outcomes of interacting conditions, incomplete observation, available interventions and the continued viability of a system.

REL.36 October 2026developingexploratory

Things we call accidents usually involve several interacting quantities changing at once, an observer who cannot see all of them, and a limited set of interventions available in time. The question is whether a system remains viable through that.

The core of this is formalised in the preprint, for finite, fully specified models. The general framing of accidents as relational outcomes goes beyond what the preprint shows, and is exploratory.
